ateway accepts students in grades 6-12. Students are accepted from districts on an as needed basis, but if registration peaks, students with expulsions, SARB referrals, or CAL-Safe referrals are given preference. Although rare, this occurrence will probably only happen during 4th quarter.
- Gateway strives to expedite student processing and to ensure good customer service to districts, parents, and the students we serve. Please feel free to contact an administrator if you have any concerns or questions regarding students or referrals.
- Gateway’s vision is to provide a safe and student centered environment for our students and to aid them in completing requirements for graduation or GED.
- Gateway offers a comprehensive middle school program to better serve districts in Ventura County.
Referral Process:
- Home district submits full referral packet to Gateway School.
- Gateway contacts parents to set up screenings each week.
- Referrals are reviewed every Tuesday; students are invited to register on Thursdays, and to start school on Fridays. This will enable us to serve your students in a timely manner and will provide districts with a definitive registration process to share with parents if questions arise.
- All Gateway students are placed on informal contract with Probation in order to ensure cooperation and attendance from students.
Referral Snags
- Please make sure referral packet is complete.
- If packets are missing information, a Gateway representative will email the district representative on Friday of the week of referral to advise of missing documents.
- A Gateway representative will also send an email to the home district rep each week advising of students who are no shows for registration OR to advise districts that students have enrolled.
- Please always feel free to call the Gateway principal if you feel a referral is not being processed in a timely manner.
- We cannot accept students if their referral packets are not complete.
